Metropolitan Highway No. 39 Relocation of Utilities

| Metropolitan Highway No. 39, better known locally as Berry Street (Hemphill to I-35), has been expanded and improved by the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation in order to widen the roadway and eliminate at-grade crossings of railroad tracks at two locations. Prior to highway construction, Wier & Associates, Inc. evaluated existing water and sewer utilities within proposed right-of-way and made recommendations to City on 1.54 miles of relocations required to protect the 6"-to 12"-diameter utilities from damage during construction and provide future service to areas upstream of the highway. Wier & Associates, Inc. designed and prepared construction plans and contract documents for the relocations. Relocations were completed in 1983. Estimated construction cost: $286,000. | |

IH-30 Utility Relocations

| Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation has recently completed widening and improving IH-30 through west Fort Worth. Prior to highway reconstruction, Wier & Associates, Inc. studied and defined locations of existing water and sewer utilities and evaluated alternatives for relocations of 8-inch through 20-inch-diameter mains along a 1.1-mile stretch of IH-30 between Halloran and Sanguinet. Wier & Associates, Inc. designed and prepared construction plans and contract documents for the required locations. Design of utility relocations completed October, 1984. Following the preliminary report, Wier & Associates, Inc. prepared construction plans and contract documents for the construction of the sewer. General Motors Sewer Study/Design

| Wier & Associates, Inc., acting as civil consultant to the City of Arlington, checked the capacity of the existing collector sewer serving the 597-acre watershed of which the General Motors plant is the major contributor and made recommendations on the size and alignment of a parallel relief sewer to supplement capacity for the overloaded existing sewer. Upon approval of the study, Wier & Associates performed field design surveys, design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, and preparation of required new utility easement documents necessary for construction of the proposed 1.2 miles of 24"-diameter sewer. Project construction cost: $980,000. | |

| Wier & Associates, Inc. performed an analysis of the anticipated ultimate wastewater flows and determined the capacity of the existing overloaded sanitary sewer system, then selected a parallel sewer alignment and sized parallel relief sewers for a 1,378-acre redeveloping, urbanized watershed of which the University of Texas at Arlington and the Central Business District are a part. After approval of the alignment by City staff, Wier & Associates provided design surveys, final design, specifications and contract documents, and right-of-way and easement documents for 0.40 miles of 10"- through 18"-diameter sewer lines. | In a water supply project partially funded by a $250,000 Texas Community Development Program (TCDP) grant project Wier & Associates evaluated alternative new sites for a second water supply site for the City. Wier & Associates then surveyed, designed and prepared construction plans and specifications for a Hosston (Trinity) water well, an Upper Trinity Water Well, 200,000 ground storage tank, high service pump station and ancillary water supply improvements. Anticipated completion of construction is May, 2002. Construction Cost: $ 814,699. | |

| Water and sanitary sewer facilities were relocated prior to the reconstruction of F.M. 1187 (Debbie Lane) and the widening of the roadway by the Texas Department of Transportation. The project consists of 1.2 miles of roadway extending from U.S. Highway 287 to the western City limits line (Business 287). The project also consists of the installation of 2.2 miles of 8-inch to 12-inch sanitary sewer along Watson Branch extending to Debbie Lane. Wier & Associates, Inc. designed and prepared construction plans and contract documents for the construction of the water and sanitary sewer projects. | Design in progress of an approximately 4.3 mile Water Transmission Main beginning at the intersection of Matlock and Bardin Road proceeding generally in a northern direction primarily on or near Collins Street and then connecting to the existing elevated Tank Site on Wynn Terrace Drive near Glynn Oaks Street. The Transmission Main will vary from 24" to 42" in size and the work has been divided into three segments. Segment A: Along South Collins Street from Arbrook Drive north to Grant's Parkway. Estimated Construction cost: $704,000. Segment A plans have been incorporated into the South Collins Street Project. Segment B: North of Grant's Parkway along an alignment to be determined, to the Water Tower Site on Wynn Terrace North of Glynn Oaks. Estimated Construction cost: $1,067,000. | The City of Arlington plans to extend Lamar Boulevard from its present west terminus at Mossy Oak Street to Wilma Lane. Due to massive street excavation and fill, it will be necessary to relocate an existing 18" water line. Wier & Associates, Inc., studied the possible alignments for the relocated 18" water line, recommended the most desirable alignment, then prepared construction plans and contract documents for the relocation project. The project included 0.35 miles of 18" water line. Estimated construction cost: $101,000. | |

| Wier & Associates, Inc., assisted the City of Grandview in a grant application to the Texas Department of Commerce for funds for the rehabilitation of part of its aging sanitary sewer system. Wier & Associates, Inc., prepared construction plans and contract documents for the replacement of 0.98 miles of deteriorated sanitary sewers ranging in size from 6" to 10". The improvements also included a package duplex grinder pump station (40 gpm) and 231 linear feet of 2" force main. Approval of the proposed improvements was obtained from the Texas Water Commission. Construction of the improvements was completed in December, 1989. Construction cost: $108,000. | |

Wier & Associates, Inc. prepared construction plans for a sanitary sewage collection system consisting of 7,356 linear feet of 8-inch to 15-inch sewer lines. The project corrected the failure and collapse of an existing lift station force main which by-passed sewage flow from the watershed. Wier & Associates, Inc. completed plans ahead of schedule.
